Summary

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
- Defines legal and other requirements in the area of occupational risk management;
- Characterizes key steps of the occupational risk management process and understands logical link between them;
- Describes key hazards (risks) in the workplace and explains prevention principles of occupational injuries and diseases;
- Applies selected techniques for assessing occupational risks;
- Proposes and defends measures to ensure OSH;
- Elaborate internal documentation of occupational risk management.
Course Contents
1. OSH risk management and its significance. Relation to other safety risk assessments.
2. Legal framework of OSH risk management. The general process of risk management (ISO 31 000) and its application in the area of OSH;
3. Preparing for risk assessment in OSH;
4. Assessment and prioritization of occupational risks (risk identification, risk analysis and risk evaluation): procedure, methods and tools - I .;
5. Assessment and prioritization of occupational risks (risk identification, risk analysis and risk evaluation): procedure, methods and tools - II .;
6. Occupational risk management - general prevention principles, hierarchy of controls and their effectiveness. Residual risks and risk transfer;

Analysis of key groups of occupational risks (characteristics, risk sources and possible consequences, vulnerable professions / industries, principles of prevention, legal framework):
7. Physical risks incl. Mechanical risks - I .;
8. Physical risks incl. Mechanical risks - II .;
9. Chemical risks;
10. Biological risks;
11. Ergonomic risks;
12. Psychosocial risks and work-related stress;
13. Combined occupational risks. Emerging occupational risks.
