1st year
• The course Safety in Electrical Engineering will be newly realised in block form at the beginning of the winter semester. The dates of the lessons will be published on the web pages of the department at the beginning of September.
• To pass into the second year, the student must get 40 credits for the first year.
• If the student completed any optional-compulsory or optional courses during his bachelor’s studies, he cannot enrol in them again during the related master’s studies. For the given semester, he enrols only in the optional-compulsory courses and optional courses that he has not taken during his bachelor’s studies.
• The bachelor’s courses for the Bio-medicine Engineering specialisation are offered to students on the basis of the approved Accreditation from 2nd October 2009 and according to the law No.96/2004 Coll., directive MZČR 35/2005 Coll. (details in the MZČR Journal, part 3, and year 2009) and directive MZČR 401/2006 Coll.
• The students pass the courses Practical Education – Diagnostic Instruments (total duration 30 hours), Practical Education – Therapeutic Instruments (total duration 30 hours) and Practical Education – Laboratory Instruments (total duration 10 hours) after the conclusion of lessons during the summer semester and before the commencement of lessons in the following winter semester, on dates for which they register individually during the summer semester. The practice is supervised by mentors in chosen medical workplaces. Those students who can present a valid document proving they have been vaccinated against hepatitis B (certificate of vaccination, medical certificate) can participate in the courses. The vaccination must have been done within 2-12 months before the beginning of the courses. The vaccination is a premise for the practical placements in nursing and non-medical activities in medical institutions.
2nd year
• The lessons in the summer semester last only 10 weeks.
• The final state examination includes the defence of the Master’s thesis and examination from two compulsory courses:
Compulsory courses: Cybernetics, Medical Instrument Technology .
• The topic areas for the course Cybernetics will be chosen from the courses Modulated Signals, Complex Variable Functions and Integral Transformations, Reliability and Construction of Medical Instruments, Treatment of Bio-signals, and Medical Display Systems 1.
The topic areas for the course Medical Instrument Technology will be chosen from the courses Medical Diagnostic Instruments, Medical Therapeutic Instruments, Medical Display Systems II, Diagnostic Methods in Medicine, and Clinical Engineering.
• The scheduled excursions are part of the study plan.
The courses in English, German, Russian and Spanish conversation are intended for:
1. students who wish to go on a study stay abroad (for example within the Erasmus programme); they enrol in the course for the semester before their scheduled departure;
2. students who link to the Master’s studies, according to the capacity of the foreign language department;
3. students of Bachelor’s studies who are to pass an exam in a foreign language (usually after having completed four semesters of foreign language education), according to the capacity of the foreign language department.
The students can enrol in a course only once during their studies at FEI. The number of students who can enrol in this course will be limited by the capacity of the foreign language department. Those students who are leaving for a study stay abroad always get priority. The students of related Master’s studies come next.
The education is always to be discussed individually at the foreign language department.
