• In the first year of their studies, students sign up for all compulsory and compulsory-optional subjects (for more details, see below).
• The timetable of the subject Security in Electrical Engineering will be made available on the web pages of the Faculty (www.fei.vsb.cz) at the beginning of September.
• Students sign up for a specific level of English language for each of the first four semesters. The language levels are as follows: a – beginners, b – advanced. Students are automatically signed up for an advanced level of English language. Please contact the Department of Studies in order to change the level.
• Students are obliged to complete two semesters of the subject Physical Exercise in the first year of their studies (Physical Exercise A and B). Students can select a particular sport from the list offered by the Department of Physical Education at the beginning of the semester. Other choices are up to students. The Department of Physical Education also offers students in all semesters and study years the possibility of completing an optional subject, Physical Education, and of attending one-week winter and summer physical exercise courses. • It is compulsory to complete two subjects from the social sciences in the course of the first and second years of studies.
• The checking of the studies takes place after the winter semester of the first year. To be able to continue with their studies in the summer semester, students must gain a minimum of 16 credits. Students who are repeating the first year must complete all the subjects of the winter semester of the first year of studies to be able to continue in the summer semester.
• Students must gain a minimum of 40 credits to be able to progress into the second year of their studies.
• In the second year of their studies, students must sign up for all compulsory and compulsory-optional subjects.
• In terms of the project-based lessons, students must complete the subjects Term Project Ia and Ib in the second year of their studies. More detailed instructions can be obtained from the field department or on the web pages of said department.
• The lessons of the summer semester of the third year of study take place for only 10 weeks.
• In the third year of their studies, students sign up for all compulsory and compulsory-optional subjects.
• In the third year of their studies students must complete the subject Bachelor’s Seminar 1 and 2:
o Processing of Topic from the Department
o Processing of Topic from a Company
o Practice in a Company
• Students can sign up for a state final exam provided they have completed all the subjects they signed up for and have gained 180 credits for the whole duration of their bachelor’s studies, and have submitted their bachelor’s thesis.
• Subjects of the state final exam:
o Electric Engineering
o Automotive Electronic Systems
• Detailed instructions for signing up subjects into the Student’s Personal Plan can be obtained from the field department or from the web pages of said department.
• All subjects, including optional ones, become binding on the day a student signs up for them.
• The field department is the Department of Electronics.
Subjects of Business English 1 and 2 – are compulsory subjects only for SP PSP in Bachelor’s studies. Based on emails received from dr. Folwarečný, the established codes are to remain the same as in the follow-up Master’s studies because students completing this field of study may in their Master’s studies specialise in a related field of study. That is why the following note will be added to B-PSP:
A student studying at FEI (Bachelor’s + Follow-up Master’s) may sign up for the subjects of Business English 1 and 2 only once.
The subject of conversation (English, German, Russian, Spanish) – is included in all study programmes and fields of study (except for AES and PSP). Therefore the following note applies to all (except for AES and PSP).
Subject: English, German, Russian, and Spanish conversation is designed for:
1. Students who want to travel abroad (e.g. in terms of Erasmus programme); these students are to sign up for the subject for the term preceding the travel.
2. Students of the Bachelor’s studies who passed the exam from English language (regularly after completing four terms of English language lessons).
Students can sign up for the subject only once during their studies at FEI (Bachelor’s + Follow-up Master’s). The number of students who can sign up for this subject will be limited by the capacity given Department of Languages. Students travelling for a study stay abroad have always preference, and then students of follow-up Master’s studies. The lessons must be always arranged for individually at the Department of Languages.
Amendment:
If a student selects two of the above mentioned subjects, he/she will not be monitoring whether to count everything into the 180 credits. Such issue has not been discussed at any of the RSP or KD meeting.
If Departments wish to monitor for such situations, I recommend to create their own note for the given field of study. It is necessary to have some written statement in case of a students’ complaint.
