1st year
• The timetable of the Safety in Electronics course will be published on the web pages of the department (www.fei.vsb.cz) at the beginning of September.
• The student is obliged to enrol in English for the first four semesters.
• The student is obliged to undergo two semesters of physical training during the first year; he chooses the sport according to the offer of the physical training department at the beginning of the semester. Other choices depend on the student. The physical training department also offers the student the chance to take an optional course in Physical Training and to participate in one-week winter and summer training workshops. Detailed information is available directly from the Physical Training department.
• The student’s studies are checked after the winter semester; the student must get a minimum of 16 credits in order to continue the summer semester of the first year.
• The student needs at least 40 credits to pass into the second year.
• During his studies, the student must take two courses offered by the Social Sciences department. The first course is scheduled for the summer semester of the first year. The student will be invited to choose by the department management by means of its web pages during the examination period after the winter semester. The second course is scheduled for the winter semester of the second year and the student chooses it at the time of their initial enrolment.
• During their studies, students must complete two courses in the Social Sciences department. For students of Bio-medical Technology these courses are included in the compulsory courses in the third year, where the courses Basics of Psychology and Ethics of Medicine are studied in the winter semester and the course Communication is studied in the summer semester.

2nd year
• During the first and second years, it is necessary to pass two Social Science courses.
• For English, choose the correct level (a – beginners, b – advanced)
• To pass into the third year, it is necessary to fulfil all the obligations laid down for the first year and to get 40 credits from courses in the second year.
• The courses Continuous Managed Practices – Diagnostic Instruments (total duration 50 hours), Continuous Managed Practices – Therapeutic Instruments (total duration 30 hours), and Continuous Managed Practices – Laboratory Instruments (total duration 20 hours) are passed by students after the conclusion of the lessons in the summer semester and before the beginning of the winter semester of the following year, on dates for which they enrol individually during the summer semester. The practice is supervised by mentors in chosen medical workplaces. Those students who can present a valid document proving they have been vaccinated against hepatitis B (certificate of vaccination, medical certificate) can participate in the courses. The vaccination must have been done within 2-12 months before the beginning of the courses. The vaccination is a premise for the practical placements in nursing and non-medical activities in medical institutions.

3rd year
• The tuition in the summer semester only lasts 10 weeks.
• The possibilities for passing the Bachelor’s seminar (project)1,2 course:
a) treatment of a topic given bythe department
b) treatment of a topic given by a company
c) in the form of a practical placement in a company – only for students following the full-time form of studies (at the SZZ (State Final Examination) the student presents their final report on the practical placement).
• Students who have not completed the compulsory course 450-2013/01 – Sensors in Bio-medicine, which is scheduled for the study plan for the second year, must enrol in it in their third year. The course is compulsory for the State Final Examination.
• The State Final Examination includes the defence of the bachelor’s thesis and an oral examination from the courses Bio-Medicine and Measurement Technology and Examination Methods and Instrument Technology in clinical domains.
• The course 450-8420/01 – Work safety in the irradiating rooms of oncological clinics – is done as compulsory 3-hour safety training with no credits before the courses dealing with radiology and radiotherapy in the sixth semester, because the practical placements of these courses are performed in workplaces where radioactive radiation occurs.

• The scheduled excursions are part of the study plan.

The courses in English, German, Russian and Spanish conversation are intended for:
1. students who wish to go on a study stay abroad (for example within the Erasmus programme); they enrol in the course for the semester before their scheduled departure;
2. students who link to the Master’s studies, according to the capacity of the foreign language department;
3. students of Bachelor’s studies who are to pass an exam in a foreign language (usually after having completed four semesters of foreign language education), according to the capacity of the foreign language department.
The students can enrol in a course only once during their studies at FEI. The number of students who can enrol in this course will be limited by the capacity of the foreign language department. Those students who are leaving for a study stay abroad always get priority. The students of related Master’s studies come next.
The education is always to be discussed individually at the foreign language department.
