• The subject Measurement and processing of biomedical data guarantees knowledge in the field of instrumentation, measurement and processing of biomedical data.
• A student who has passed all the registered subject, acquired 180 credits for their entire bachelor studies and handed in their bachelor thesis may sign up for the state final examination (SFE).
The final state examination includes:
- defense of bachelor thesis
- oral exam - two specialized subjects
• Oral exam in the subject Healthcare Technology, the content of which consists of the following subjects:
- Transducers and Sensors in Biomedicine
- Special medical technology
- Imaging technology in medicine
- Basics of public healthcare systems and Hospital Information Systems
- Legislation and medical technology management
- Safety of medical technology
• Oral exam in the subject Measurement and processing of biomedical data, the content of which consists of the following subjects:
- Electronics
- Electrical Measurements
- Electronic Instruments Technology
- Measurements of Electronic Instruments
- Design and construction of medical instrumentations
- Signals and Systems
The State Final Examination is held in front of the State Examination Board, which is appointed in accordance with the Study and Examination Regulations for Bachelor's Degree Programs at VŠB - TU Ostrava and is public. The duration of the state examination is 30 minutes.
• The subject Healthcare technology guarantees knowledge in the field of medical technolgy. At the same time, it also verifies the knowledge of related with anatomy and physiology.
• A student who has passed all the registered subject, acquired 180 credits for their entire bachelor studies and handed in their bachelor thesis may sign up for the state final examination (SFE).
The final state examination includes:
- defense of bachelor thesis
- oral exam - two specialized subjects
• Oral exam in the subject Healthcare Technology, the content of which consists of the following subjects:

The State Final Examination is held in front of the State Examination Board, which is appointed in accordance with the Study and Examination Regulations for Bachelor's Degree Programs at VŠB - TU Ostrava and is public. The duration of the state examination is 30 minutes.
• All students are required to enroll in Safety in Electrical Engineering, after verifying the knowledge, students are instructed within the meaning of § 4, Decree no. 50/1978 Sb. and can perform activities on electrical facilities in FEECS laboratories.
• The timetable of the subject Safety in Electrical Engineering will be made available on the web pages of the Faculty (www.fei.vsb.cz) at the beginning of September.
• During his studies, the students are required to enroll two social sciences. The first subject Fundamentals of Communication, Psychology and Ethics in Medicine is included in the study plan for the second year of the winter semester. The second subject Fundamentals of Law is included in the study plan for the third year of the winter semester.
• The checking of the study results takes place after the winter semester of the first year. To be able to continue with their studies in the summer semester, students must gain a minimum of 15 credits. Students who are repeating the first year must complete all the subjects of the winter semester of the first year of studies to be able to continue in the summer semester.
•The student needs at least 40 credits to pass into the second year.
• To complete the third year, all duties prescribed for the 1st year must be fulfilled and 40 credits from the 2nd year courses must be obtained.
• Detailed instructions for signing up subjects into the Student’s Personal Plan can be obtained from the field department or from the web pages of said department.
• All subjects, including optional ones, become binding on the day a student signs up for them.
• The field department is the Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical engineering.
• Compulsory professional practice is also part of the study obligations which is realized in the 4th semester of study in cooperation with medical facilities.
Professional practice is structured in accordance with Decree No. 39/2005 Coll. and it takes the form of continuous guided practice in three blocks with names:
- Practical Training in Medical Facilities - Diagnostical Instrumentation - the total length of the practice is 50 hours.
- Practical Training in Medical Facilities - Therapeutical Instrumentation - the total length of the practice is 30 hours.
- Practical Training in Medical Facilities - Laboratory Instrumentation - the total length of the practice is 20 hours.
The output of the practice is a "practical diary" in which detailed information on the content and scope of student activities during the course is recorded. In conclusion, it also evaluates student activity during practice.
Practice is usually completed during the examination period and in the summer months. For this reason it is also in 2r. higher credit burden on the student.
• The lessons of the summer semester of the third year of study take place for only 10 weeks.
• In the third year of their studies students must complete the subject Bachelor’s Seminar 1 and 2 in one of following forms:
a) Processing of Topic from the Department
b) Processing of Topic from a Company
c) Practice in a Company
Excursions are part of the study plan.
• Students are obliged to complete two semesters of the subject Physical Exercise in the first year of their studies (Physical Exercise A and B). Students can select a particular sport from the list offered by the Department of Physical Education at the beginning of the semester. Other choices are up to students. The Department of Physical Education also offers students in all semesters and study years the possibility of completing an optional subject, Physical Education, and of attending one-week winter and summer physical exercise courses. The student enrolled in the first four semesters English language. The Biomedical Technology program has an advanced level of BME. You can also choose the level - beginners. You must contact the Study Department.
• Students of the combined form of study to enroll the subject Fundamentals of Mathematics instead of Physical Training A and B. The subject Introduction to English Business and Technical Correspondence is offered only for full-time study.
• Students enroll in optional courses according to their preferences to complete the required number of credits per semester.
• Third-year students in the summer semester sign up for optional subjects from the third year offer.
• The subject Popularisation of Science and Technology 1 can be registered at the field department only by students who will conduct the Cybernetics club.
• The student may sign up for the subject Introduction to English Business and Technical Correspondence) only once while studying at FEI (Bc+N).
The subject of conversation (English, German, Russian, Spanish) – is included in all study programmes and fields of study (except for AES and PSP). Therefore the following note applies to all (except for AES and PSP).
Subject: English, German, Russian, and Spanish conversation is designed for:
1. Students who want to travel abroad (e.g. in terms of Erasmus programme); these students are to sign up for the subject for the term preceding the travel.
2. Students of the Bachelor’s studies who passed the exam from English language (regularly after completing four terms of English language lessons).
Students can sign up for the subject only once during their studies at FEI (Bachelor’s + Follow-up Master’s). The number of students who can sign up for this subject will be limited by the capacity given Department of Languages. Students travelling for a study stay abroad have always preference, and then students of follow-up Master’s studies. The lessons must be always arranged for individually at the Department of Languages.
From the proposal of optional specialized courses, it is possible to choose the English language course and only one more foreign language course in the maximum of two semesters to encounter credits in of total of 180 during the master study.
