In the first year of their studies, students sign up for all compulsory subjects.
1st year
• The timetable of the subject Security in Electrical Engineering will be made available on the web pages of the Faculty (www.fei.vsb.cz) at the beginning of September.
• The checking of the studies takes place after the winter semester of the first year. To be able to continue with their studies in the summer semester, students must gain a minimum of 16 credits. Students who are repeating the first year must complete all the subjects of the winter semester of the first year of studies to be able to continue in the summer semester.
Students must gain a minimum of 40 credits to be able to progress into the second year of their studies.
2nd year
• During the summer semester students choose the topic of their bachelor thesis.
• Progress to the 3rd year - Students must complete all obligations prescribed for the 1st year and get min. 40 credits from 2nd year subjects.
3rd year
• The lessons of the summer semester of the third year of study take place for only 10 weeks.
• Students can sign up for a state final exam provided they have completed all the subjects they signed up for and have gained 180 credits for the whole duration of their bachelor’s studies, and have submitted their bachelor’s thesis.

Students must complete 2 courses from the Department of Social Sciences during their studies. The first subject History of Science and Technology is included in the curriculum for the summer semester of the first year. The second subject is scheduled for the winter semester of the second year and the student chooses his/her choice when creating personal study plan for the second year.

The student may sign up for the subjects Introduction to English Business andTechnical Correspondence only once while studying at FEI (Bachelor’s + Follow-up Master’s).
Subject: English, German, Russian, and Spanish conversation is designed for:
1. Students who want to travel abroad (e.g. in terms of Erasmus programme); these students are to sign up for the subject for the term preceding the travel.
2. Students of the follow-up Master’s studies according to the capacity of the Department of languages.
Students can sign up for the subject only once during their studies at FEI (Bachelor’s + Follow-up Master’s). The number of students who can sign up for this subject will be limited by the capacity given Department of Languages. Students travelling for a study stay abroad have always preference, and then students of follow-up Master’s studies. The lessons must be always arranged for individually at the Department of Languages.

It is recommended for all those who have not graduated from mathematics, or need to supplement / repeat the knowledge of high school mathematics. Completion of the course will help to successfully master compulsory courses such as Mathematical Analysis and Linear Algebra.
