• The subject Security in Electrical Engineering will be conducted in block form at the start of the winter semester. The timetable will be made available on the web pages of the Faculty at the beginning of September. The subject is registered by all students mandatorily; after testing their expertise, the students are notified pursuant to Section 4 of Decree No. 50/1978 Coll. and can perform activity on electrical equipment and FEI laboratories.
• To pass to the 2nd year, it is necessary to acquire at least 40 credits in 1st year subjects in the given academic year.
• Detailed instructions for signing up subjects for OSP can be obtained from the field department or from the web pages of the said department.
• Students choose mandatorily optional subjects with a focus according to their complete bachelor’s programs (fields).
• The field department is the Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering.
• All registered subjects including optional ones become binding on the day of signing up.
• The subjects Practical Experience - Diagnostic devices (total duration 40 hours), Practical Experience - Therapeutic devices (total duration 25 hours) and Practical Experience - Laboratory devices (total duration 15 hours) are taken by students after completing courses in the summer semester and before commencing courses in the summer semester of the following year, on the date they individually sign up for during the summer semester. Experience is conducted under the supervision of mentors at selected medical workplaces. The subject make be taken only by students who prove via the appropriate document (vaccination card, medical confirmation) that they have undergone mandatory vaccination against hepatitis B. Vaccination must be applied between 2 to 12 months before starting the subject. Vaccination is a condition for performing experience in treatment and non-medical activities at healthcare facilities.
• The lessons in the summer semester of the second year take place only for 10 weeks.
• Planned excursions are part of the study plan.

The study programme provides for the possibility of admitting three different types of applicants:
• BMT (Biomedical Technician or Biomedical Technology, Biomedical Technology and Bioinformatics) - graduates of a Bachelor's degree programme in Electrical Engineering with eligibility for the health profession.
• Non-BMT - graduates of a low-current electrical engineering degree programme (e.g., Measurement and Control Engineering, Control and Information Systems, Automation, Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics.
• Non-BMT RA - graduates of a Bachelor of Healthcare Studies with eligibility to practice a healthcare profession (for example: Paramedic, Radiology Assistant, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Laboratory Diagnostics in Healthcare , Optometry, Nursing).
• Assignment to the curriculum is approved by the sponsor of the Biomedical Engineering program based on previous undergraduate studies.
• In addition to the compulsory subjects, the curriculum prescribes a specific range of compulsory elective subjects for applicants, which are used by individual types of applicants to supplement their knowledge so that the overall composition of the courses taken complies with the requirements of Decree No. 39/2005 Coll. and the above-mentioned methodological guidelines.
• It is not possible to enrol in follow-up studies in subjects that students have taken in their bachelor's studies, even if the subjects have a different or similar title.
• For non-BMT and non-BMT RA applicants, this selection mainly includes the necessary technical and medical subjects that are usually missing from their previous studies to the extent required.
• Non-BMT block - for students with an electrical engineering background. Students are required to choose:
- 450-4089/01 Public Health and Biotelemetry,

- In the winter and summer semesters, the elective courses Master's Project 1 and Master's Project 2 are offered. If a student chooses MP1, they must also enroll in MP2. In both courses, students work in groups to solve a large-scale professional project depending on which specialisation they are studying. They then defend the project in the summer semester in MP2.
- First-year students take electives from the second-year offer in the summer semester.
- The course Popularization of Science and Technology 2 will be enrolled in the department only for students who lead the Cybernetics club.
- Students may enrol in electives from the Institute of Languages for a maximum of 4 credits during their studies at the FEI.
- German and Chinese can be studied beyond the compulsory number of credits (120 credits).
- The course Safety in Electrical Engineering 2 is intended for students who have taken the course Safety in Electrical Engineering 3 years ago or more.
