The student can apply for the FSE (Final State Examination) if he / she has completed all enrolled subjects, obtained 180 credits for the entire bachelor study and submitted the bachelor thesis.
The final state examination includes:
- defense of bachelor thesis
- oral exam - two topics in the range of subjects of the profiling base:
1) Cybernetics - contains the following subjects:
• Sensors and Measurements
• Signals and Systems
• Cybernetics
• Programmable Controllers and Visualization of Control Systems
• Digital and Microprocessor Technology I
• Virtual Instrumentation I
• Virtual Instrumentation II
2) Informatics - contains the following subjects:
• Introduction to SW Engineering
• Object Oriented Programming
• Algorithms I
• Operating Systems
• Basics of Machine Learning
• Computer Security.
The State Final Examination is held in front of the State Examination Board, which is appointed in accordance with the Study and Examination Regulations for Bachelor's Degree Programs at VŠB - TU Ostrava and is public. The duration of the state examination is 30 minutes.

• The subject Safety in electrical engineering is compulsory for all students, after verification of knowledge students are instructed in accordance with the provisions of §4, Decree No. 50/1978 Coll. and can carry out activities on electrical equipment. The students are allowed to work on electrical equipment in the FEI laboratories.
• The timetable for the Electrical Safety course will be published on the Faculty's website (www.fei.vsb.cz) at the beginning of September.
• The review of studies takes place after the winter semester, the student must achieve a minimum of 15 credits to continue in the summer semester of the 1st year. Students in the repeat year must complete all Winter Semester courses enrolled in Year 1 to continue in the Summer Semester.
• The minimum number of credits required to continue in the Bachelor's degree programme beyond the first year of study is at least 40 credits.
• Students may also enrol in the English language course No. 470-2111/05 under No. 470-2111/06.
• In order to progress to the 3rd year, it is necessary to fulfil all the requirements prescribed for the 1st year and to obtain 40 credits from the 2nd year courses.
• Further instructions on how to register for courses in the OSP can be obtained from the department or the department's website.
• All enrolled courses become mandatory on the date of enrollment.
• The Department of Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering is the subject department.
• Classes in the 3rd year run for only 10 weeks in the summer semester.
• Options for taking Undergraduate Seminar 1 and 2:
(a) elaboration of a topic from the department
b) elaboration of the topic from the company
c) in the form of an internship in a company (in the case of SZZ, the student presents a final report on the course of the internship).
• Planned excursions are part of the study plan.
• Students sign up for a specific level of English language for each of the first four semesters. The language levels are as follows: a – beginners, b – advanced. Students are automatically signed up for an advanced level of English language. Please contact the Department of Studies in order to change the level.
• Students are obliged to complete two semesters of the subject Physical Exercise in the first year of their studies (Physical Exercise A and B). Students can select a particular sport from the list offered by the Department of Physical Education at the beginning of the semester. Other choices are up to students. The Department of Physical Education also offers students in all semesters and study years the possibility of completing an optional subject, Physical Education, and of attending one-week winter and summer physical exercise courses. • Students enroll in electives according to their preferences to complete the required number of credits in each semester.
• For the summer semester, students enroll in electives only from the 3rd year offerings.
• The course Popularisation of Science and Technology 1 can be registered by the department after agreement with the programme supervisor.
• Students may enrol for a maximum of 4 credits from this offer of the Institute of Languages during their studies at the FEI; the capacity of the courses is determined by the Institute of Languages.
• A student may take the course Introduction to English Business and Technical Correspondence only once during his/her studies at the FEI (BA+N).
• German and Chinese can be studied beyond the compulsory number of credits (180 credits).
• The course Safety in Electrical Engineering 2 is intended for students who have taken the course Safety in Electrical Engineering 3 years ago or more.
