Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge and skills in the area of design, reliability assessment and realization of prestressed elements and constructions of bridges, engineering structures and industrial buildings. Student has to obtain and prove an adequate general overview of solved problems. Student also has to work out the individual project related to the scope of the thesis.

Summary

Design and assessment of prestressed elements and structures. Prestressed elements and structures of bridges, engineering structures and industrial buildings. Numerical solution methods for real cross-sections. The placement of prestressing tendons, the effect on bending and shear resistance. Serviceability limit states – stress limitation, crack control and strain in elements of prestressed structures.
