223-0053 – Building materials II (SH2)
Gurantor department | Department of Building Materials and Diagnostics of Structures |
Subject guarantor | doc. Ing. Jana Daňková, Ph.D. |
Study level | undergraduate or graduate |
Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The goal is to give students a comprehensive overview of the properties, method of manufacture, processing and use of these materials in construction. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in evaluation of physical and mechanical properties of major groups of building materials in the design and composition of building materials and choice of materials for use in building construction.

Summary
The course follows the the subject of Building Materials I. It focuses on selected major groups of modern building materials such as waterproofing materials, thermal insulation and acoustic insulation materials, light building materials, refractory materials, composite materials, coating systems, etc. Attention is also paid to the use of advanced nanotechnology in the building construction and use of secondary raw materials and waste for the production of building materials.
