224-0245 – Special Methods in Geomechanics (SMG)
Gurantor department | Department of Geotechnics and Underground Engineering |
Subject guarantor | doc. Ing. Petr Koníček, Ph.D. |
Study level | undergraduate or graduate |
Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The course should acquaint students with some new, progressive methods used in the field of geomechanics and geotechnical engineering. In the field of in situ measurements, it is primarily to monitor the state of the rock mass in terms of fundamental characterization of deformation and stress state of the environment in the structures massif.

Summary
Measurement and monitoring of voltage conditions in the mass, tension and discovery methods especially lightweight drill core (variant, CCBO, CCBM,), hydrofracturing, sleevefracturing shape deformation wells and corridors.
They discussed the possibilities and limitations of the methods used and their suitability for a particular situation.
In the laboratory work will be content of the course, the emerging area of application of modern computer methods of experimental analysis in geosciences. This includes the use of X-ray CT. This is a very powerful tool in the characterization of the internal structures of rock samples (shape distribution and the distribution of pore space fissure systems of distribution and structural arrangement of mineral grains). The information enables a detailed analysis of structural processes emerging in rocks without irreversible destruction of the test sample.
