Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the railway superstructure and substructure and to practice the acquired knowledge and skills. The course follows and also extends the knowledge and skills acquired in the bachelor courses of study. Students gain wider knowledge in structural design and diagnostics of Railway. Graduating student is able to describe and solve problems such as construction of superstructure, assess the resistance elements of rail tracks, design and assessment sleeper subsoil and other buildings substructure. The student acquires the skill to formulate problems, build design solutions, applying knowledge and skills in problem solving in the field of railway construction.

Summary

This course continues the subject of undergraduate study railway construction and extends student's knowledge of new concepts from the area of rail track in the area of theoretical and practical applications. It deepens the theoretical knowledge and familiar with their application for structural elements of the superstructure, substructure, as well as new features associated with building high-speed lines and modernization of railways and the building of railways in the special conditions (effects of mining activities, flood plains).
