After completing this subject, student will be able to understand and apply following skills:
- Basic knowledge of design and assessment of steel elements and joints according to European standards;
- Basic knowledge of design and assessment of timber elements and joints according to European standards.

Summary
Within the subject elements of steel and timber structures, students will be acquainted with the design of basic elements (beams, columns) and joints according to Eurocode 3 for steel structures and Eurocode 5 for timber structures. Students will be familiar with design for ultimate and serviceability limit state.
