Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
After completing this subject, student will be able to understand and apply following skills:
- dispositional and structural design of steel structures – general principles;
- design and assessment of steel industrial buildings (mainly steel halls);
- design and assessment of steel multi-storey buildings;
- dispositional and structural design of timber structures – general principles;
- design and assessment of typical timber structures and their members (beams, trusses, planar frames and curved beams, timber roofs.

Summary
The subject of Steel and Timber Structures follows the subject Elements of Steel and Timber structures, in which the students learned basic principles of design of steel and timber structures. Within the framework of this course Steel and Timber Structures students will apply basic knowledge from the previous subject to static design of joints and bearing elements of steel hall and wooden truss.
