Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Students will learn about the function of pneumatic elements, their construction and characteristics and their use in pneumatic and electropneumatic circuits. They will also learn basic computations in the field of pneumatic mechanisms. Students will be able to design and assemble basic pneumatic circuits.

Summary
Students will learn about the function of pneumatic elements, their construction and characteristics and their use in pneumatic and electropneumatic circuits. They will also learn basic computations in the field of pneumatic mechanisms. In the course of the semester, emphasis will be placed on the drawing of pneumatic circuit diagrams and their practical assembly on trainers.

Subject syllabus:
1 Overview and justification of the advantages of pneumatic mechanisms for various application. Comparison with other types of mechanisms, criteria.
2 Analysis of disadvantages and possibilities of disadvantages elimination
3 Properties of compressed air. The basic relations of thermodynamics calculations.
4 Production and distribution of compressed air.
5 Pneumatic cylinders and other motors, distribution, construction. Gripping head.
6 Pneumatic cylinders, basic calculations.
7 Directional control valves, flow rate control valves.
8 Pressure valves, combined elements, filters, mist separators
9 Basic pneumatic mechanisms for control of position, velocity, pressure, force and torque. Diagram of the movement.
10 Logical components.Vacuum pneumatic mechanisms.
11 Basic problems of the operation, maintenance and diagnostics of pneumaticmechanisms.
12 Measuring and testing of pneumatic components and circuits.
13 Application of pneumatic mechanisms in different machines and equipment: manufacturing, transport and handling technologies.
14 Analysis of drawing documentation of pneumatic and electropneumatic circuits.
