342-0432/05 – Operational Procedures 1 (PP1)

The subject´s goal is to achieve the necessary competencies to focus on the issues of flight and other operational procedures used in general aviation. Completion of this course is part of the training for obtaining PPL and ATPL licenses.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to identify the fundamental operational procedures used in general and commercial aviation, describe the structure and content of the VFR Manual, the Czech Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP Czech Republic), and the related national and international aviation regulations, and explain the organization of air traffic services, airspace classification, VFR and IFR operating rules, aircraft equipment requirements, operational documentation, aircraft maintenance procedures, and the principles governing the investigation of aircraft accidents and incidents. Students will be able to apply operational procedures during the preparation and conduct of flights in accordance with applicable aviation regulations, propose appropriate solutions to standard operational situations, use aeronautical information services and operational documentation, and evaluate compliance with operational requirements with regard to flight safety, airworthiness, and regulatory requirements. Students will be able to independently conduct the resolution of model operational tasks, justify selected operational procedures based on applicable aviation regulations and safe operating principles, take responsibility for decision-making in model operational situations, and evaluate operational risks together with the suitability of proposed measures to enhance aviation safety. Successful completion of the course forms part of the theoretical training for the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). The course is based on Module 070 – Operational Procedures and provides the knowledge and skills required for the theoretical examinations leading to the issue of the relevant pilot licences by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Czech Republic.

Students’ knowledge is continuously assessed throughout the course by means of discussions and questions during individual classes, with the aim of actively engaging students in the learning process. At the end of the semester, students’ knowledge is assessed: by credit test.
