Summary

This subject is fundamental one to subjects that deal with standards and technical product documentation. Students will acquire basic knowledge of standardization, production and reading of technical drawings, imagery, dimensioning, tolerances of machine parts and record in title blocks, signification of surface quality, signification of glued, soldered and welded joints. The emphasis is placed on self-reliant creative technical thought during individual school assignment on tutorial. The aim of this subject isa formation of skilled student character to be able to use basic knowledge in next technical subjects and technical profession in drawing-office, design-office or in manufacturing.

Subject syllabus:

1. TECHNICAL DRAWINGS - Types of drawings and their purpose - Drawing formats and appearance - Basic elements: scales, title block - Types of lines (omit centerlines, coordinate grid, offset lengths, etc. – the title block is used anyway) 2. REPRESENTATIONS IN DRAWINGS - Examples of how aircraft components are shown in drawings - Different views and sections of parts 3. DIMENSIONING - Basic dimensioning terms - Dimensioning of basic geometric shapes (circles, cylinders, etc.) - Arrangement of dimensions 4. TOLERANCES AND DIMENSIONS - Importance of tolerances in design - Basic rule for dimension tolerancing 5. SURFACE FINISHES - What surface texture means - How to read surface finish symbols on drawings 6. FASTENERS - Types of threads and screw connections - Drawing and dimensioning of threads 7. SHAFTS AND AXLES - Differences between various types of shafts - Use and drawing of grooves and keys 8. MACHINE COMPONENTS - Basic types of fasteners (pins, dowels, rivets) - How to properly represent fasteners in drawings 9. GEARS - Introduction to gears and their applications - Drawing and dimensioning of gear wheels 10. BEARINGS - Basic types of bearings used in aircraft - Drawing and dimensioning of bearings and related principles 11.
