Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Interpretation and application rules for the design and evaluation of building structures with regard to their safety and reliability during blast load. External and internal explosion of condensed explosives, a cloud of dust and gas mixtures. Basic requirements on the parameters describing the explosion as accidental actions and load characteristics of the building structure. Principles of design and assessment of structures under blast load according to the theory of limit states. Design states assessment of the design in an explosion. Assessment of risk for design load blast effects.

Summary

Understanding the assessment of building structures with regard to their safety and reliability under load blast. Analysis of parameters describing the blast load. Application of the theory of limit states for design and construction assessment blast load. Design structure for assessing the situation in the blast. Principle of simplifying the calculation of response structures for blast loads using 1D, 2D, 3D models construction and valuation uncertainty in determining response of the structure calculation. .Distances for the safe transfer of the effects of an explosion. Requirements analysis and evaluating the resistance of the structure, loaded explosion, according to Eurocodes.

Subject syllabus:

1. Principles of simplifying the calculation of response of structures to blast loads, 1D, 2D and 3D design and uncertainty in determining the response of a structure calculation. Effects of load-bearing elements on the resistance of the structure. 2. Criteria for assessment of the design under overpressure blast wave from the blast. Effects of time pressure on the resistance of the structure. 3. Distances for the safe transfer of the effects of an explosion. 4. Requirements for analysis and evaluation of resistance of the structure, loaded explosion, according to Eurocodes. 5. Examples of simplified verification resistance construction.
