Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The course focuses on the fire safety of buildings using fire engineering, therefore, there is the overview of the computational procedures. These determine the origin and development of the fire and assessment of possible behaviour of people during evacuation. There is also a description of the design fire scenarios. The student will learn to design buildings according to the current concept of fire safety engineering.

Summary
Fire safety engineering includes scientific and engineering principles, rules, and expertise based on an understanding of the basic phenomena of fire and on understanding the behavior of persons during a fire. The main objective of fire engineering is provide acceptable conditions for ensuring the protection of human, the protection of property, environment and cultural heritage in the event of a fire.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
Professional knowledge will be continuously verified by tests in exercises and by entering a translation of a scientific text. The achieved professional qualifications will be verified by the elaboration of a semester project and its successful defense. The final verification of the study results is a summary of the fulfilment of the requirements for the credit and a final examination.
