Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The course extends the knowledge gained in the design of fire safety through technical standards and focuses on the practical application of methods of fire engineering methods within the processing of fire safety rules. After completing the course, the student is able to apply procedures related to the field of application of different procedures in the assessment of buildings and fire engineering.

The course prepares the student for the practical application of methods of fire engineering and process incorporating the results in fire safety design of buildings.

Subject syllabus:

1. Legislation and fire engineering, fire engineering within state fire supervision 2. Fire safety objectives and acceptability criteria, prescribed design parameters 3. Design fire, choice of fire scenarios 4. Detailed determination of fire risk, impact of fire safety equipment on fire risk 5. Process of thermal stress of building structures 6. Evacuation of persons 7. Determination of spacing distances by detailed methods 8. Detailed assessment of fire intervention, fire control analysis 9. Processing of results of fire engineering methods into fire safety design
