030-0114/01 – Zdolávání mimořádných událostí (ZMU)

The aim of the course is to obtain students' professional knowledge in the field of large scale emergency events. It is an extension of knowledge from previous years of study, especially in the fields of physics, chemistry, structures of building, heat transfer, fire safety of buildings, tactics, chemistry of fire and explosion, fire equipment, overview of technical equipment and their implementation into the given issue.

Participation in the course students obtain knowledge and skills in the field of fire protection, especially focusing on topics such as complex conditions for intervention, continuity of fire intervention, fire extinguishing by foam, powder and inert gases. At the same time the students will be acquainted with the fact of the activities of Fire Rescue Service in operational management, the organization of the intervention site and the management of the emergency with respect to the scope. An integral part is also knowledge in the area of interventions in buildings of agricultural production, tactics and cooperation regarding road traffic collisions, and last but not least, knowledge of communication in dealing with large scale emergencies. Knowledge of the means of chemical, technical and mechanical services are connected with the interpretation of topics related to the rescue and evacuation, the nature of events with the dangerous substances (CBRNE) and the implementation of technical interventions. In technical topics, the course is completed with a practical part, where the students try to use the technical means and get a real picture of the level of equipment of fire protection units and the opportunity to try out a number of resources that are covered by these topics.

The achieved knowledge will be verified by the elaboration of seminar projects and their successful presentation in the class. The final verification of the study results is a summary of the fulfillment of the requirements for the credit and a final exam.
