Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is the theoretical introduction of students to the basic terminology and construction principles of buildings in relation to fire safety. Clarification of the legislative framework and types of construction documentation in the construction process. Building construction of buildings, their importance and function. Emphasis on structures and their modifications related to fire safety of buildings. Applied materials and their properties. Representation of building structures in project documentation. Orientation in construction drawings.

Summary

Understanding the concept of design and operation of building structures with a comprehensive consideration of the functional requirements for individual elements. Requirements for buildings, structural system and spatial effect of structural system. Foundations. Vertical and horizontal structures. Staircase. Chimneys and vents. Roof coverings. Basic overview of selected assembly structures (building envelopes, floors, ceilings and finishes).

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

The achieved knowledge will be verified by the elaboration of a semester project and its successful defense. The final verification of the study results is a summary of the fulfilment of the requirements for the credit and a final test.

1. Basic requirements for buildings 2. Foundations, foundations structures and excavations 3. Lower building construction 4. Construction systems 5. Chimneys and ventilation vents 6. Non-load-bearing structures, partitions 7. Offset and recessed structures 8. Horizontal load-bearing structures, unloaded and recessed structures 9. Cladding 10. Staircases, ramps, ladders, railings and lifts 11. Roofing - flat 12. Roofing - oblique 13. Floors 14. Finishes, facades, doors and windows
