Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The course “Firefighting Equipment” has a decisive importance for intervention activity of fire brigades during firefighting, by rescue operations, by natural disasters and other extraordinary events. The course further explains basic legal regulations, technical regulations and directives applicable to the use of firefighting equipment. It explains basic requirements for operational reliability of technical equipment used in various operating conditions of fire brigades emergency activity. It deals in more detail with the problems of various technical equipment used in specific interventions (mainly demanding interventions by large fires of residential buildings, production companies, forest and natural fires, etc.) It also deals with the issue of technical support by intervention activities by major accidents, such as railway accidents, accidents of buses and other public transport means. It addresses the issue of choice of appropriate firefighting equipment according to the place of deployment in emergency sections. It specifies in detail particular properties of firefighting equipment in terms of functional properties, both qualitative and quantitative. Based on the study of these properties under various operating conditions it specifies appropriate firefighting equipment for intervention activities in terms of effective intervention.

The course is concerned with equipment inserted between men and acting subjects
to protect health, lives, the property of individual persons and of the others
when dealing with emergencies. A piece of equipment (machine, mechanism,
apparatus, tool, gear and outfit) as a sum of material means and the method of
application.

- General and technical requirements for firefighting equipment
- Effective deployment of various firefighting equipment for intervention activities, deploy of technological line for the emergency section
- Principles of choice of firefighting equipment for selected specific intervention activities (multi-criteria selection of equipment)
- Theoretical base of operational reliability and availability of firefighting equipment
- Basic principles of modern management of operations, maintenance and inspection of firefighting equipment
- Essential requirements for work safety and health protection by operation of firefighting equipment
