Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students will understand in detail the function and application of selected fire safety systems. On this basis, students will be able to analyse their options and to design and evaluate the effectiveness of their use in a specific situation. They can analyse in detail the interrelations between fire safety systems.

Summary

The course deals with principles of the early detection of fires and fire- hazardous situations and principles of the function of various fire detectors and the whole automatic detection systems (ADS). Problems of the determination of fire detection time are discussed. Special attention is paid to the problems of effective securing fire detection in various spaces by means of ADS and especially to cooperation of ADS and other pieces of fire safety equipment (FSE) and the inclusion of FSE into the fire safety of structures and technologies.

Subject syllabus:

The course covers the principles of early fire detection and fire hazardous situations and principles of the function of various detectors and complete fire detection and alarm systems (FDAS). The problems how to determine the time of fire detection are also discussed. Particular attention is paid to effective automatic fire detection in different spaces using FDAS and the cooperation of FDAS with other fire-safety devices (FSD) and the inclusion of FSD to the fire safety of buildings and technologies.
