Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to expand and deepen the knowledge of FSE, especially FDAS, equipment for the detection of flammable gases and vapours of flammable liquids, equipment for control of the smoke and heat movement and fixed firefighting systems and possibilities of their applications in buildings. The student will be able to analyse and evaluate the impact of the use of FSE and their various combinations on the fire safety of buildings and technologies, especially in relation to the evacuation of people and fire intervention.

Summary

The course deals with fire-safety devices (FSD) especially covers the principles of early fire detection and fire hazardous situations and principles of the function of various detectors and complete fire detection and alarm systems (FDAS). The problems how to determine the time of fire detection are also discussed. Particular attention is paid to effective automatic fire detection in different spaces using FDAS and the cooperation of FDAS with other fire-safety devices and the inclusion of FSD to the fire safety of buildings and technologies. Special attention is also paid to systems for the detection of flammable gases and vapours and their cooperation with other FSD.
