Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of the course is to gain knowledge about the fire technical characteristics of building materials and the behavior of these materials in fire conditions.
Based on theoretical knowledge, the student will be able to classify materials, estimate their behavior under heat and then suggest the use of the material for a specific use.

Summary
Knowledge of fire technical characteristics of materials, similarly to knowledge of material, physical and other characteristics of building materials, is a necessary basis for all knowledge of an engineer working in the field of fire protection. The student will gain knowledge about the behavior of materials in fire conditions, which will be used not only in related subjects, but also in practice.

Subject syllabus:
The course deals with the properties of rigid materials used in construction and their changes in connection with the effects of fire and the interpretation of these changed properties in relation to the fire resistance of structures and fire safety. The subject is based on characteristics describing the flammability, flammability and development of smoke from solid materials. In connection with the possibility of a partial reduction of the fire risk, the subject also includes systems for fire protection of materials and structures together with the possibilities of verifying their effectiveness and certain properties.
