Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
After absolvig lessons, student will have the capacity to identify elementary risks related to accidents involving hazardous substances in environment and to clasify them according potential consequences.
Teaching methods
Summary
Dangerous chemical compounds and their environmental impact in the case of
accident. Examples of major chemical accidents in history: Seveso, Baia Mare,
Exon Valdez, Prestige. Methods of assessment of environmental impacts of
chemical accidents. European and Czech legislation, SEVESO Directive, IPPC,
EIA. Management of dangerous chemical compounds, prevention, mitigation of
accidents. Vulnerability of environmental compartments (surface water,
underground water, soil, biota).

Accident as phenomenon relating to environment.
Examples of historical accidents in environment: Baia Mare, Seveso, Schwarzhalle Basel, oil accidents
Dangerous compounds from the point of view of accidents.
Toxicity for water environmet, ecotoxicity
Acute and chronic effects.
Physico-chemical danger – fire, explosion.
