Define the types of accidents (incidents). Clarify industrial accidents and their effects. Analyze the major industrial accidents. Discuss legislative system security prevention and preparedness for major accidents (in the CR and the EU).

Summary
Types of accidents (incidents). Industrial accidents and their phenomena. Overview and analysis of major industrial accidents. Legislative securing the system of major accident prevention and preparedness (SEVESO Directives, Act No. 59/2006 Coll. on Major Accident Prevention). Analysis of basic safety requirements and their application to ensure the operational safety of chosen technologies.

Subject syllabus:
1. INTRODUCTION
Emergencies - Accidents - explanation of basic terms of emergencies (natural, anthropogenic, combined) and their occurrence. Serious accidents and their effects.
2. CAUSES OF INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENTS
Analysis of the causes of accidents involving dangerous substances (equipment failures, deviations from normal operating conditions, human error and organizational errors). Overview and interpretation of the accident that took place in the world and in the CR - fires, explosions, spills and release of toxic substances, the possible combinations.
3. IDENTIFYING THE POSSIBILITY OF HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES
Groups hazards of substances and their definition, information on hazardous properties, safety measures and labeling - for example, CAS number, EC number, a database of hazardous substances, information on the Internet. Classification and numeric labeling of dangerous substances for transport (UN-code identification number of the hazard).
4. PREVENTION AND PREPAREDNESS IN MAJOR ACCIDENT IN THE EUROPEAN UNION
Security system of prevention and preparedness for major accidents in Europe, the emergence and development. Seveso I directive, the Seveso II directive, the amendment of Council Directive 96/82 / EC so-called Seveso II Directive. directives.

10. PRINCIPLES OF FIRE PREVENTION AND TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESSES Explosion.
Primary protection, secondary protection, protection of the tertiary - explanations of concepts and practical applications
11. ANALYSIS AND APPLICATION OF PREVENTIVE MEASURES FOR FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS
Definition and classification of flammable liquids. Distances of technological equipment. Detection and emergency reservoirs. Storage tanks - design and equipment modifications. Specific requirements for the manufacture of spirits, the use of flammable solvents in paint shops.
12th ANALYSIS AND APPLICATION OF PREVENTIVE MEASURES FOR SECURITY AND LIQUEFIED GASES
Properties of liquefied petroleum gas. Location of storage and production facilities. Precautionary measures for storage and production.
13th APPLICATION prevention requirements, based on the analysis of risks to manufacturing processes
Production of high PE (compression, polymerization).
