Summary
Tento předmět představuje studentům koncepty a metody hygieny práce, včetně předvídání, rozpoznávání, hodnocení, komunikace a kontroly zdravotních rizik, které mohou vést k poškození zdraví nebo mohou ovlivnit pohodu pracovníků. Prostřednictvím přednášek a praktických cvičení studenti získají znalosti o technikách měření a monitorování expozice základním rizikovým faktorům pracovních podmínek a o tom, jak lze informace o expozici použít k posouzení rizik. Kurz představí systém kategorizace prací a principy prevence a snižování zdravotních rizik. Budou diskutovány konkrétní opatření k ochraně zdraví při práci a hygienické požadavky na pracoviště a pracovní prostředí. V rámci semestrálních prací studenti získají praktické dovednosti v posuzování zdravotních rizik, zařazování prací do kategorií a návrhu opatření k prevenci zdravotních rizik.

Subject syllabus:
1. Introduction to Occupational hygiene (OH): definition of occupational hygiene, history and background, the importance of OH, core definitions, diversity of workplace health risks, legal framework, occupational hygienist profile, professional bodies.
2. Human physiology: introduction to the physiology in the OH context, physiological organ systems: the cardiovascular system, the digestive system, the endocrine system, the immune system, the muscular system, the nervous system, the renal system, the reproductive system, the respiratory system, and the skeletal system.
3. Chemical hazards – dust, aerosol: characterization, health effects, risk assessment, occupations at risk, prevention and control.
4. Chemical hazards – hazardous substances and mixtures: introduction to human toxicology, characterization, hazardous properties, health effects, risk assessment, occupations at risk, prevention and control.
5. Physical hazards – noise and vibration: characterization, health effects, risk assessment, occupations at risk, prevention and control.
6. Physical hazards – non-ionizing radiation, electromagnetic fields and lasers: characterization, health effects, risk assessment, occupations at risk, prevention and control.
7. Physical hazards – microclimate, heat &cold stress: characterization, health effects, risk assessment, occupations at risk, prevention and control.
8. Physical hazards – lightening, visual stress, display-screen equipment: characterization, health effects, risk assessment, occupations at risk, prevention and control.
9. Biological hazards (agens) – bacteria, viruses, yeasts, molds and parasites: characterization, health effects, risk assessment, occupations at risk, prevention and control.
10. Ergonomic hazards: introduction to human factors and ergonomics, musculoskeletal disorders, ergonomic analysis – methods and tools, occupations at risk, prevention and control.
11. Psychosocial risks and stress at work: importance, characterization, health effects, risk assessment, occupations at risk, prevention and control.
12. Human health risk assessment and control: HRA framework, control banding tools, hierarchy of control, health surveillance, occupational health promotion.
