Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Student understands basic terms, processes and theories in chemistry linked to environment and industrial safety, will be abla to identify principal hazards originated from chemical reactions and compounds endangering health and safety of employees, process safety and environment quality.
Student will be able to communicate EHS with experts in chemistry.

Summary
Předmět je zaměřen na problematiku dějů a teorií v chemii ve vazbě na životní prostředí a průmyslovou bezpečnost. Hlavní zaměření je na nebezpečí vyplývající z chemických reakcí a látek a ohrožující zdraví a životy zaměstnanců, bezpečnost provozu a kvalitu životního prostředí.

Studijní výsledky budou ověřovány jednak průběžně v semestru s využitím hodnocení aktivity na cvičeních a formou seminářů, dále pak během kombinované zkoušky. U každého studenta se předpokládá alespoň jedno aktivní vystoupení (prezentace) samostatných výsledků.

Subject syllabus:
1. Introduction to the chemistry and relation to safety and environment; terminology and basic concept
2. Matter structure, interaction between atoms (bonds), relation to the safety, basic rules of general chemistry
3. Chemical reactions (redox, acido-basic, coordination a radical), influence to health and safety, chemical equilibria
4. Termodynamic a kinetic of chemical reactions, catalysis and inhibition, run-away reactions
5. Oxidation and reduction in chemical processes, burning and extinguishing, chemical explosions, corrosion
6. Phase transformations and their manifestations, phase equilibria
7. Importance of phase transformations in safety
8. Chemistry of construction, building and other materials. Nanomaterials
9. Processes and equipment in chemical technology I
10. Processes and equipment in chemical technology II
11. Principal chemical productions
12. Major chemical accidents and their impacts
13. Chemical processes in environment, safety, health and environmental services. Environmental fate of compound. Transformation and accumulation of substances. Chemical analyses in HSE management and their interpretation
