Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The chemicals (chemical substances), natural or synthetic are an integral part of our daily life. It doesn’t exist any economic sector not using chemicals. The chemicals are present in the industrial sector e.g. in their production, transport, downstream uses, end-of life etc. Some of them could be hazardous for human health and/or environment. These substances (or their dangerous properties) have to be effectively managed and risks adequately controlled. Within the subject will be explained: the classes of hazardous properties, and their classification, basics of chemical safety assessment and risk management, the principles and regulatory tools used for managing/controlling of risks within whole life cycle of chemicals (placing on the market, transport, dangerous waste etc.). The student will be also acquainted with competent authorities and international organizations within management of chemicals.
