Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the basic principles of toxicology as a scientific discipline. Based on these general principles, they will deepen their knowledge of toxicology of chemical substances, which are frequently processed during processes chemical production or are products of chemical industry.
At the end of the course student should be able to use basic toxicological terms. The study provides an overview of toxic chemicals properties that affect their absorption and transformation within the body. At the same time, he will know the routes of exposure and the mechanisms of toxic action of the most common industrial chemicals. Student will be able to apply the acquired knowledge for the purpose of risk assessment when working with toxic chemicals.

Summary
The course introduces students into toxicology. They will be acquainted with a group of substances called poisons, gates of poisons entering the organism, possibilities of their processing and modification by the organism, as well as with factors influencing the effect of poisons on the organism. The study will provide an overview of the most important toxic substances that are used in the chemical industry or are products of industrial production. Special attention will be paid to toxic products of combustion processes.
