Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The course focuses on the basic knowledge obtained from the issue of environmental protection and major accident prevention (SEVRSO Directive). It´s important to clearly understand the impact to the environment caused by selected dangerous substance release and to have needed knowledge for major accident prevention, preparedness and liquidation. After completing the course, student will be able to define the risk of environmental major accident and apply suitable measures leading to minimization of this event. On the base of risk analysis, student will know how to assess the environmental impact of emergency scenarios. Obtained knowledge student apply in risk assessment.

Summary

The course includes a basic explanation of environmental protection concepts needed for study of major accident risk analysis and related legislation valid in area of environmental protection and major accident prevention, understanding of environmental impact assessment and use of selected methodologies recommended in the Czech Republic and Europe for risk assessment of major accident. The course is completed in practical shows and case studies from the industry.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

The form of verification of study results is combined, both oral and written. The student of the full-time study processes the worksheets, presentation on a selected accident with impact to the environment, which he also presents during exercises and a semestral work. Other requirements

At least 70 % attendance at exercises. Absence of a maximum of 30% must be excused and the excuse must be accepted by the lecturer (the lecturer decides on the justification of the excuse). Continuous submission of tasks specified in the exercises in terms set by the lecturer.
