Summary

The course is focused on risk management in the workplace. Occupational risk assessment is a fundamental element in the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. The practical skill in risk assessment and the ability to propose effective measures to eliminate the risks or minimize their impact is among the key competences of OSH professionals. The requirement to carry out the occupational risk management is established in the European OSH Framework Directive (Directive 89/391 EEC), in the Czech Republic in the Labor Code (Act No. 262/2006 Coll.). Students will become familiar with common workplace hazards (risks) and the principles of occupational accidents and diseases prevention. They will develop practical skills in occupational risk assessment, including application of selected methods and tools for risk identification, analysis, evaluation and prioritization.
