Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of this course is to clearly and comprehensively inform students about the risk assessment from the major accident prevention point of view.

Summary
The course focuses on the explanation of the basic concepts for studying the risk analysis of major accidents, legislation in the area of major accident prevention, safety management system and selected methods for the risk assessment used in the Czech Republic and Europe.
Compulsory literature:
Council Directive 2012/18/EU of 4 July 2012 on the control of major-accident hazards involving dangerous sub-stances. Official Journal of the European Communities (SEVESO Directive III).
Sikorova K.: Environmental Protection and Safety. Study support within the project Technology for the Future 2.0. Ostrava 2020.
Recommended literature:
Danihelka P.: Analysis and management of risks of dangerous chemicals in industry, VŠB-TUO, Ostrava 2002.
Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
The form of verification of study results is combined, both oral and written. The student of the full-time study processes the worksheets or semestral work and presentation on a selected accident, which student also presents during exercises.

Other requirements
At least 70 % attendance at exercises. Absence of a maximum of 30% must be excused and the excuse must be accepted by the lecturer (the lecturer decides on the justification of the excuse). Continuous submission of tasks specified in the exercises in terms set by the lecturer.
