Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Objective of the course in terms of learning outcomes and competences The aim of the course is to acquire and extend the basic knowledge about the creation of dangerous concentrations of flammable dusts, gases and vapors of flammable liquids, which can occur in technological processes, under normal operating conditions, as well as during technology startup and shutdown.
The student will be able to define the risk of an explosive atmosphere and apply appropriate measures to eliminate it. Understanding the possibility of initiating explosive files in production processes so that the student is able to apply preventive measures to limit them. Based on analysis and evaluation of fire and explosion hazards, the student will be able to define appropriate measures to limit the possibility of flame spread and fire. Acquired knowledge will be applied to selected technological processes, their risks and possibilities of preventive protection.

Summary
Characteristics of mixtures of flammable gases, vapors of flammable liquids, mists, and combustible dusts. Propagation of pressure waves and their effect on the environment during different operating conditions. Initiation sources in production processes and their limitations. Active and structural measures in explosion prevention. Measures restricting the possibility of propagation of the flame and explosion.
