Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

- Explain the importance and role of risk assessment and risk management in the OSH field. - Interpret the requirements of regulations, standards and good practice in the field of occupational risk management. - Apply the general risk management process (e.g. according to ISO 31000) in the OSH field. - Applies selected procedures, methods/techniques and tools for occupational risk assessment. - Assess the OSH risks and propose adequate controls.

Summary

The course is focused on risk management in the workplace. The ability to assess occupational risks and to propose effective measures to treat them is one of the key competencies of OSH professionals. Students will get acquainted with common workplace hazards (risks), with procedures, methods/techniques and tools for their assessment and with fundamental principles regarding prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. The course is linked to ISO 45001:2018, ISO 31000:2018 and IEC310010:2019 standards. A teamwork-based practical project present core part of the course. Students will have the opportunity to work on case studies from real companies and to carry out assessment of occupational risks in practice.
