Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The history of civil protection in the Czech Republic, the place and role of population protection in the current security environment. Civil emergency planning and population protection in the European Union countries and NATO. International humanitarian law and legislation of the population protection. A set of activities and procedures to minimize the negative impacts of emergencies and crisis situations on the health and lifes of people and their living conditions. Mechanism of warning, evacuation, sheltering and emergency survival of the population. Population protection in emergency and crisis plans.

Summary

The subject provides comprehensive knowledge about the population protection in the context of the critical infrastructure resilience at the international level. Particular attention is paid to failures in the critical infrastructure system and their direct, cascading and synergistic impacts on the population. The protection of the population due to disruption or failure of critical infrastructure is addressed in the context of the disaster risk reduction system at the regional level.
