Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Introducing students to the issues of security threats of the present society with the connection to the internal and external security of the state. This creates a theoretical and practical prerequisite for student orientation in the area.

Summary

The course focuses on explaining and getting acquainted with the developmental trends of terrorism and extremism. It defines the history, development and typology of terrorism, its strategy and tactics; resources and methods. It deals with criminal terrorism, fundamentalist terrorism. Structure of Terrorist Organizations, Analysis of the Risk of Terrorist Threats. In the next part of the course the students will be acquainted with the extremist scene starting with the movement of the skinheads and other nationalist groups, their symbolism, the anarchists, religious extremism, environmental extremism, their aims and methods and so on. Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject acquaints students with current types of social pathology and addictions. Alcohol and non-alcohol addiction, gambling, and other negative aspects of habits, symptoms, consequences, and treatment options will be discussed.

Subject syllabus:

1.Typology of security threats, asymmetric threats and hybrid wars in contemporary society, introduction to the problem, social pathology and its category. 2.Terrorism. Definitions, history, development and typology of terrorism, strategies, means and methods of terrorism, 3.Fundamentalist and ethnically national terrorism, ideology, activity of selected terrorist organizations. 4.Extremist scene; left-wing, right-wing and other groups. Symbolism and identification of extremist groups. 5.Religious extremism, sect. Legislation governing churches and sects, prevention. 6.Environmental Extremism, Blackout. 7.Current types of dependencies. Types of addictive substances, distribution. Alcohol dependencies and their consequences, 8.Non-alcohol dependence. Netolism, gambling and the negative aspects of habits and the possibilities of their treatment. Prevention. 9.Domestic violence, bullying, homelessness, hostility, delinquency, vandalism, morbidity, child abuse. 10.Corruption and integrity tests in the company. Prevention. 11.Equality of Citizens in the Czech Republic and the European Union. Legislation. 12.Prevention and social pathological phenomena, ethics and morality; prediction of security threats
