Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic principles of scientific work, both theoretical and based on experimental research. Students must be able to apply and combine theoretical knowledge with outputs obtained from practice and applied research. Students are able to summarize the acquired knowledge and interpret the knowledge in terms of solving practical problems.

Summary
The course is focused on an overview of basic methods of scientific research in basic and applied research, qualitative, quantitative and mixed, including a systemic approach to scientific work. Furthermore, the course includes the theory of measurement, processing and evaluation of measured experimental data and determination of measurement uncertainties, including the use of statistical methods in processing measurement results.
