Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student is able to analyze basic economic categories. Can explain the causes and consequences of the behavior of consumers, businesses, governments and central banks as the operation of sub-market products, money and production factors. Studnet has overview of the working mechanism of the national economy in the context of the global economy and is able to separate economic thinking.

Summary

The course represents upgrading of economic theory studies for students of economic branch at the Faculty of metallurgy and material enineering. The main emphasis is laid on the behaviour of consumers, households, firms and government and on the understanding of mutual relationships among macroeconomic variables. Attention is also paid to the labour market and capital market. Also economic policy practised by governments and central banks has a very important role in the course.

Subject syllabus:

Rámcová osnova předmětu: Rozšířená teorie spotřebitelského chování. Elasticity. Transakční náklady Teorie výroby a teorie nákladů. Alternativní modely teorie firmy Dlouhodobá rovnováha a nabídka na dokonale konkurenčním trhu. Rovnováha odvětví. Dlouhodobá expanze firmy Aplikace teorie monopolu, oligopolu a monopolistické konkurence. Teorie protimonopolní regulace Nejistota a nedokonalá informovanost. Riziko a výnos. Asymetrické informace Teorie portfolia a modely investičních rozhodnutí Teorie všeobecné mikroekonomické rovnováhy. Efektivnost výroby a spotřeby v čase. Paretovské optimum a ekonomie blahobytu Krátkodobá analýza v makroekonomickém modelu (IS-LM) s časovou strukturou úrokových sazeb, inflačním očekáváním a rizikem. Omezení účinnosti a nejednoznačnost výsledků makroekonomické politiky v ekonomice s moderními finančními trhy Makroekonomie otevřené ekonomiky. Swanův diagram, model Mundella a Fleminga a model IS-LM-BP Monetární přístup k platební bilanci. Kapitálové toky a autonomie monetární politiky Reálný devizový kurs a běžný účet platební bilance. Obchodní a neobchodní zboží a devalvace v malé otevřené ekonomice (Salterův a Swanův model). Nová teorie růstu. Srovnání Solowova modelu růstu s endogenními růstovými modely. Mechanismy endogenního růstu. Hospodářský růst v empirických analýzách Hospodářský cyklus a makroekonomické fluktuace. Tradiční vs. moderní pojetí cyklu. Konvenční pravdy o cyklu.
