Teaching methods

Summary

The aim of the subject is to make the basis for students’ independent creative economic thinking. The main emphasis is laid on the behaviour of consumers, households, firms and government and on the understanding of mutual relationships among macroeconomic variables. Attention is also paid to the labour market and capital market. Also economic policy practised by governments and central banks has a very important role in the course.

Subject syllabus:

1. Grafický aparát používaný v ekonomii. Trh a tržní mechanismus. 2. Úvod do makroekonomie. Dva soudobé přístupy ke zkoumání makroekonomických jevů. Základní makroekonomické agregáty. Měření produktu a cenové hladiny. 3. Peníze a peněžní systém. Centrální a komerční bankovnictví. Monetární politika. 4. Fiskální politika. Státní rozpočet. Deficit státního rozpočtu, státní a veřejný dluh. 5. Nezaměstnanost. Inflace. Analýza vztahu mezi inflací a nezaměstnaností. Phillipsova křivka. 6. Ekonomický růst a cyklus. 7. Problematika světové ekonomiky, základní pojmy a kategorie. Mezinárodní obchod. 8. Peníze v otevřené ekonomice a měnový kurs. Vývoj mezinárodního měnového systému. Platební bilance. 9. Mezinárodní ekonomická integrace. 10. Úvod do mikroekonomie. Ekonomické předpoklady a souvislosti výroby. Výrobní faktory, jejich vzácnost a hranice výrobních možností. Alternativní náklady. 11. Utváření poptávky - chování spotřebitele. Užitečnost a předpoklady racionálního chování spotřebitele. Poptávka a její elasticita. 12. Utváření nabídky - chování firmy. Náklady, příjmy a zisk firmy. Alternativní cíle firmy. 13. Charakteristika jednotlivých typů tržních struktur: firma v podmínkách dokonalé konkurence, čistého monopolu, oligopolu a monopolní konkurence. Smysl ochrany hospodářské soutěže. 14. Utváření cen na trzích výrobních faktorů, zvláštnosti trhu práce, trhu kapitálu, trhu půdy a přírodních zdrojů. Ekonomická renta. 15. Rozdělování produktu (důchodu). Problém ekonomické rovnosti a nerovnosti. Externality. Veřejné statky. Veřejná volba. Vládní selhání.
