Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The pedagogical aim of this course is students´ ability
- to define institutions in the context of institucional economics
- to identity and to assess the influence of institutions on economic life of society
- to explain the development of institutions and to distinguish "human action" and "human design" concepts
- to outline the typology of institutions
- to illustrate the impact of formal and informal institutions on economic behaviour of people
- to diagnose "strengths" and "weaknesses" of the institutional framework of the Czech economy
- to discuss the relation between "hard" and "soft" factors of economic development
- to combine knowledge in technocraticly designed subjects to knowledge in more human-oriented subjects (social sciences and humanities).

Summary
This seminar is destined for students with strong interest in deepening their
knowledge in contemporary economic theories. The seminar is focused on
fundamental thesis of institutional and new instutional economics. Attention
will be paid to the main representatives of this stream of economic thought.
The participants are expected to have real willingness to take active part in
tutorials.
