Summary

The main aim of the lectures is to introduce the discipline of Applied Ethics to the students of Management. The lectures will focus on the key concepts of ethics and explore the main schools of ethics across the history of western society. The key terminology and categories of ethics will also be explained. The most important aim of the subject is to promote relations between the theory of ehics and the issues of economic development. The goal of the subject is the development of critical thinking in the area of ethics, understanding ethical dilemmas in global business. The benefits for students consist in the practical demonstration of how to join theoretical knowledge with practice in real business.

Subject syllabus:

1. Definitions (ethics business ethics, specifics of business ethics) -ethic to economics and law -basic of ethic of ethical reasoning 2. Fundamental ethical category – values, good and evil - ethical values of managers - influence of values at the behavior - values of successful managers 3. Factors that affect ethical conduct. Organization culture. - whistle – blowing - ethical decision making 4. Corporate social responsibility and responsibility of managers 5. Ethics in multinational companies - respecting cultural differences 6. Development tools of ethical conduct - ethical codes, ethics training, stakeholders, the role of ombudsman 7. Skills for ethical conduct - development possibilities and limits of ethical conduct
