Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

1. To apply the principles of general sociology into the sociology of physical education and sports, socialization with respect to sports activities. 2. To define methods and techniques of sociological research. 3. To explain the principles of the sociology of physical education, sports and physical training recreation. 4. To explain the role of social groups and 5. To interpret sports spectatorship, the sociology of crowd, the sociology of leisure time to the sporting environment. 6. To define the main present social problems of handicapped sportsmen

Summary

The subject aims to transform the basic chapters of general sociology into the sociology of physical education, sport and gymnastic recreation and understanding of physical culture as a social phenomenon. Within this subject, students will understand the importance of social groups and social stratification of the society, will learn the fundamentals of the sociology of education, crowd, family and leisure – all with respect to the sporting environment of the Czech Republic. Great emphasis is placed on the issue of social deviations and negative social phenomena in the sports environment.

Subject syllabus:

1. Social interdependence of physical culture (PC) 2. Social systems of physical culture from historical point of view 3. Human being, a biological and social creature 4. Social groups, socialization of an individual in the course of his/her life, impact of TV and sport on socialization-adaptation processes 5. Social groups connected with sport, negative youth social groups, clubism 6. Methods and techniques of sociological research 7. Most frequently applied sociological techniques - dialogue, questionnaire, kinds of questions, respondents, preparation for survey, problems of collecting and processing data 8. Sociology of physical education, teacher x student, coach x sportsman 9. Sociology of sport, integrating a sportsman in the society, the pros and cons of socialization of a sportsman in different stages of his/her carrier 10. Sport watching, sociology of a crowd, negative features of sport watching and attempts at solving them 11. Sociology of sports recreation, sociology of lifestyle, sociology of leisure time, classification of leisure time activities 12. Sociology of family, function of family, family and school, family and sports club, family and encouraging the children to go in for sports, active way of spending leisure time 13. Negative social phenomena - social deviations, classification of deviation, negative phenomena in sport and their impact on the society 14. Handicapped sportsmen, integrating handicapped sportsmen in the society, impact of sport on their socializing, sports competitions, Paralympic games
