Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
1. To acquaint students with the sources of law and to apply them into the sporting environment.
2. To include and adjust the sports branch to EU legal regulations.
3. To define national and international sports organizations.
4. To analyze sportsmen in the legal regulations of the Czech Republic and in the EU legal system.

Subject syllabus:
1. Sources of law in sport (Commercial Code, Civil Code, Law on
Association of Citizens, Law on the promotion of sport), history of
sports rights, the right to sport. The laws given to the sports
environment.
2. Labour relations in sport. The employment agreement, an agreement
on work, employment. Business license.
3. Sport and Law in the EU I., EU internal market and sports cases for
the free movement of persons from the perspective of athletes,
contracts of association and freedom of services.
4. Sports and EU law II. examples: Bosman Warlave, Deliege, Kolpák,
Simutenkov, Lehtonen and others.
5. Status of athletes in the legal system of ČR. Duties of athletes at
the opening of sporting activities (trade office, Revenue Office,
Social Security Administration, insurance company). Athlete, coach,
referee in relation to trade.
6. Specifics such as sports clubs, companies, setting up a sports
club, civic association in the sport.
7. Legislation gifts, advertising, sponsorship, tax aspects of the
operation of sporting activities.
8. Professional contract in sports. Other contracts occurring in the
sporting environment (content, form, essential).
9. Representation of athletes, sports manager, sports agent.
10. Responsible sportsmen and criminal responsibility in sport, civil
liability in sports, with practical examples.
11. Settlement of disputes in sport, sports federations Arbitration
Commission, the settlement of disputes before the ordinary courts,
international sports arbitration, a second trial
12. Tax issues of individual athletes and team sports, coaches,
referees and delegates. Law on Income Tax applicable to the sport.
13. Tax issues of sports clubs. Companies and non-profit organizations.
14. Grants and subsidies in the sport. Projects.

1. Economics of sports (definition of basic concepts, economic
analysis and distribution. The influence of the various spheres of
social life in the sport.
2. Sport as a public good. Demand and supply of products and services
in a sporting environment.
3. World organizations in sports, the IOC, NOCs, FISU. Olympism.
4. Funding Opportunities for Sport I.
5. Funding Opportunities for Sport II. The financial resources of
sports clubs.
6. Models of professional sports clubs in the current conditions.
7. Referees, coaches and delegates. Their status and integration in
economic terms.
8. Sport and mass media. Television rights and sports.
9. Models of non-profit organization dedicated to the sports theme.
10. Tax implications for the financing of sports organizations.
