1. To improve student knowledge of managerial ethics. 2. To acquaint students with the Code of Sports Ethics and the European Sports Charter. 3. To analyze the negative factors, phenomena and problems of the current sporting environment. 4. To categorize the ethical behavior of a sports manager.

Summary

The subject Professional Ethics and Sports Ethics draws attention to the fundamental ethical principles and ethical codes related to the performance of the profession of a sports manager. The subject is supposed to deepen students’ knowledge of managerial ethics, analyse negative factors, phenomena of contemporary sports environment. The subject is intended to guide students to discuss the possibility of eliminating negative phenomena from sport, their own considerations leading to awareness of the dangers of doping, corruption, racism, commercialization and other phenomena for today’s sport, to outline a concept that would lead to the return of the basic idea of competing in sport according to the fair play principles.

Subject syllabus:

1. Ethics, ethical categories and terms 2. The history of sports ethics, development and present-day situation in the Czech Republic and EU countries 3. Ethics in sport, sport ethic codices in the Czech Republic and in Europe 4. Negative factors and problems of the present-day sports environment, sport manager's possibilities of solving them 5. The approach of managers, sports clubs, organizations and institutions to the problems of sports ethics, the summary of tools 6. Ethical decision-making process in the sports environment 7. Ethical behaviour, ethical codices and sports 8. Education in ethical behaviour, ethical behaviour from the sport manager's point of view 9. Ethical behaviour within a sports club, organization, interpersonal relations 10. Ethical behaviour of sportsmen towards the outside world 11. The biggest problems of sports ethics, etiquette 12. Ethical approach to handicapped sportsmen 13. Managerial ethics in solving some current problems, e.g. breaking the rules in fair-play, racism, corruption and other negative phenomena in sport 14. Doping in sport, examples of abusing supporting drugs, fighting against doping, proposals of solutions
