Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

1. Define basic notions of strategic management area. 2. Adopt and use principles of strategic thinking. 3. Set mission of organization, to formulate messages, visions, targets and philosophy of organization. 4. Apply strategic analysis methods and using it to inscribe and evaluate external and internal environment of organization. 5. Identify competitive advantage of organization. 6. Predict prospective progress of entrepreneurial environment. 7. Formulate parallel strategic alternatives. 8. Evaluate designed strategies and to resolve optimal one. 9.Evaluate risks and effects of implementation of strategy and to evaluate results of strategic check.

Summary

The subject is focused on understanding of strategic management and creation of strategic approaches. With case studies that are based on business practice, methods of strategic analysis are applied and the state and trends of the external and internal development of the organization are evaluated. Attention is paid to the implementation of the strategy with its impact on corporate structure and culture, current management trends, anti-crisis measures and risk distribution methods. These findings form the basis for understanding the content of the different strategies and strategies of strategic decision making. After completing the course, students should be able to think through the different parts of the strategy implementation, assess its risks and set up a system of strategic control.

Subject syllabus:

1. Meaning, position and basic concepts of strategic management. 2. Methods of forecasting, importance of forecasts, basic development tendencies of the present. 3. Principles of strategic management, models of the strategy-making process. 4. Company mission, corporate objectives, vision, corporate philosophy. 5. Analysis of the external environment. 6. Analysis of the internal environment. 7. Financial analysis and financial planning within the corporate strategy. 8. Method of selecting the type of strategies (procedure, methods). 9. Implementation of strategies - individual steps. 10. Functional strategies. 11. Risk and crisis in terms of corporate strategy. 12. Current management approaches as part of strategic management. 13. Innovation process and innovation strategy. 14. Strategy of multinational and transnational companies in the conditions of advancing globalization.
