Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The main target of the subject of “Geography of Europe” is to give the basic knowledges about geographical background of the world and especially of the Europe and their countries and macro regions. The very much dramatic affairs are running on this continent for the last several decades. The students obtained much information about political, natural, social and economic potential of the Europe and their macro regions

Summary

Cílem předmětu je poskytnutí základních znalostí o geografickém pozadí světa a zejména prohloubení okruhu znalostí o socioekonomické váze evropského kontinentu, jeho jednotlivých států a vybraných regionů. Na politické mapě Evropy došlo za posledních deset let k výrazným proměnám, které dotvářejí dramatické události 20. století na tomto kontinentu. Vliv Evropy na okolní svět především v podmínkách globalizačních a integračních tendencí zůstává v mnoha směrech závažný. Stejně tak mimořádnou roli sehrávají aktivity v oblasti budování bezpečnostní architektury Evropy.

Subject syllabus:

1. Development of Human Geography (Basic notes and natures of human geography). 2. Introduction to the Theory and Methodology in Human Geography (Techniques and methods). 3. Introduction to the Therory of Spatial (Geographical) Systems. 4. Changes on the political and economic world map (State and his Basic Signs and Typology). 5. Introduction to Population geography (Development of the World Population) 6. The geography of the world economy (Agricultural and Industrial Process). 7. Core - periphery System of the World. 8. The Czech Republic and geographic background (Social and Economic Characteristics of the State). 9. World economy in geospatial context.
