Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The main goal of the subject “Geography of the Europe” is to learn the students to criticize of the Europe maturity on the world scale. They obtain the acquirement to value natural, social and economic characteristics of the Europe continent. They acquaint with living standard European countries, they be able to compare this differences not only on the European scale. Students will be more acquaint with geographic and social characters of the Czech Republic and European Union.

1. Basic knowledge of geographical science. Geographical approaches and spatial arrangement. 2. State-forming process and geopolitical situation of Europe. 3. Europe as an economically powerful complex interconnected space. General characteristics of the European continent. 4. Natural characteristics of the European continent. 5. Evaluation of European social development. 6. Economic environment and level of European development. 7. Macro-regions of European states with developed market economy. 8. Macro-regions of Eastern and Central Europe. 9. The Czech Republic and the European Economic Area. 10. Position and development possibilities of the European continent. 11. Differences in the level of maturity of European countries, availability of geospatial data. 12. Cooperation of European states on security and economic development issues. 13. Problems of contemporary Europe from the point of view of state-forming process. 14. Perspectives of the development of the European continent.
